MANILA, Philippines — The suspect in the fatal hit-and-run of a businessman in Cebu City has been released from hospital arrest after posting bail for his temporary liberty.

The 21-year-old suspect, Sean Andrew Pajarillo, yesterday posted bail of P72,000 for the charge of  reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, at the Cebu City Regional Trial Court.

Pajarillo was arrested and then brought to a hospital after his sport utility vehicle rolled over as he was fleeing from the area where he had run over businessman Kingston Ralph Cheng in Barangay Banilad on Sunday.

Pajarillo’s lawyer, Julito Añora Jr., gave assurance that the suspect will not flee and will face court hearings.

After posting bail, Pajarillo returned to the hospital to secure clearance from his doctor for his discharge.

Meanwhile, five alleged security escorts of Pajarillo were brought yesterday morning to the Mandaue City Hall of Justice for inquest proceedings.

The five were arrested on Thursday afternoon for allegedly attempting to enter the hospital where Pajarillo was confined.

They were taken to the custodial facility of the Mandaue City police-Subangdaku station 2 pending the filing of charges for violating Republic Act 11917 or the Private Security Act.

The law penalizes anyone caught engaging in security profession without authority.

Another lawyer of Pajarillo, Nodger Jude Dalman, denied that the suspect’s family hired the men as security escorts.

Dalman said the men only intended to visit Pajarillo. — The Freeman
