MANILA, Philippines — More than 7,000 devotees joined the feast of Santo Niño in Manila.

According to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Sunday, January 18, 7,500 individuals joined the feast as of 1 p.m.

Earlier, devotees joined the procession of the Sto. Niño de Tondo from the Minor Basilica and Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Niño de Tondo on Moriones St.

The procession ended at the same church.

During the procession, people were seen bringing their own image of the child Jesus.

A Filipino tradition

Every third Sunday of January, many places across the country celebrate the feast day of Santo Niño.

One of these places is in Cebu, where the Sinulog Festival is held in honor of the child Jesus.

In Manila, the feast is also celebrated in Tondo and Pandacan, where there are dedicated churches for the child Jesus.

However, it could be recalled in 2020, Sto. Niño de Pandacan Parish in Manila was engulfed in flames.
