5,123 measles cases logged in 2025

MANILA, Philippines — Up to 5,123 cases of measles and rubella were reported across the country last year, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
Health officials said the figure is 32 percent higher than the 3,880 cases reported during the same period in 2024.
Half of the cases or 2,567 are children aged six months to five years. A majority of them were unvaccinated against the diseases, the DOH said.
Among regions, Zamboanga peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen and Bangsamoro reported the highest number of measles and rubella cases.
To prevent the spread of the diseases, the health department said it would conduct a “Ligtas Tigdas Vaccination” campaign in Mindanao from Jan. 19 to Feb. 13 as well as in Luzon and the Visayas in June.
