CABANATUAN CITY , Philippines — A man was wounded after he was hacked by another man to whom he refused to give firecrackers in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija on Wednesday night.

Carlo Mendoza, 20, suffered a wound in the neck and was brought to a hospital for treatment, according to Col. Heryl Bruno, Nueva Ecija police director.

Investigation showed Mendoza was on his way to a friend’s house in Barangay Bibiclat at around 10:45 p.m. when he met the suspect, identified only as Andy.

The suspect reportedly asked Mendoza to give him some firecrackers, but the victim refused.

The suspect reportedly took out a bolo and hacked Mendoza, hitting him in the neck.
