Man decapitates drinking buddy

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A drunk man was arrested after he allegedly decapitated his friend following a quarrel in Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte on Wednesday.

Police said the suspect, identified as Nelson Rones, admitted the killing in the presence of his neighbors.

Reports said that Rones and his friend, Roel Cabanlit, were having a drinking session in Barangay Surf Miputak when a quarrel erupted between them.

Probers said Rones took out a knife and stabbed Cabanlit several times before beheading him.

Col. Khisna Bagis Asaali, chief of the Dipolog City police, said that villagers heard Rones and Cabanlit exchanging invectives before the killing was discovered.

Rones’ relatives told police that the suspect is allegedly hooked on illegal drugs and is a heavy drinker.

They said Rones behaves violently when drunk.

Rones is detained in the jail facility of the Dipolog police.
