768,263 register for barangay, SK polls

MANILA, Philippines — Close to 800,000 people intending to vote in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections next year have applied in the ongoing voter registration.
The Commission on Elections yesterday reported that the Comelec had received 768,263 applications since the nationwide voter registration resumed in October.
Among regions, Calabarzon recorded the highest number of registrants with 163,939 followed by the National Capital Region with 92,890 and Central Luzon with 88,757.
The Cordilleras listed the lowest number of applicants with 9,918 followed by Western Visayas with 23,081 and Mimaropa with 23,619.
Of the total number of registrants, 409,134 are women.
The Comelec is targeting 1.4 million new voters for the barangay and SK elections, which will be conducted in November 2026.
The nationwide voter registration will run until May 2026.
