BOC seizes kush stuffed in Labubu toys

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has intercepted kush or high-grade marijuana stashed in Labubu toys at the Port of Clark.
The BI said 538 grams of kush valued at P807,000 were concealed inside a parcel declared as Labubu keychains.
The shipment originated from Hong Kong and was bound for Biñan, Laguna.
Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno commended the vigilance of Port of Clark personnel and partner agencies for their action.
“This successful operation, through the coordinated efforts of the BOC and other enforcement agencies, demonstrates our unyielding resolve in preventing the entry of illegal drugs into the country,” Nepomuceno said. “We will continue working with our law enforcement partners to protect the people and uphold public safety.”
The parcel, which arrived in the Philippines on Nov. 15, was flagged by the BOC’s X-ray Inspection Project after the scanner showed images of drugs.
On Nov. 19, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a K9 sniff test, which yielded positive indication for narcotics.
A physical examination followed, revealing two boxes of Labubu keychains.
Each box contained two transparent sealed pouches filled with dried leaves and fruiting tops believed to be marijuana.
BOC district collector Jairus Reyes lauded the profiling skills of the port’s frontline officers.
A warrant of seizure and detention was issued for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to the Dangerous Drugs Act.
