DAVAO CITY, Philippines — A barangay chairman was shot dead by unidentified assailants while live streaming on Facebook in Digos, Davao del Sur on Tuesday night.

Oscar Bucol Jr., chief of Barangay Tres de Mayo, was declared dead on arrival at the Digos Doctors Hospital due to a gunshot in the body.

A cash reward of P2 million has been offered in exchange for information that can lead to the arrest of the assailants.

The reward was offered by Vice President Sara Duterte and Davao del Sur Gov. Yvonne Cagas, who gave P1 million each.

Bucol was reportedly a supporter of Duterte.

Reports said the killing occurred as Bucol was broadcasting live on his Facebook account at the garage of his house.

The video showed Bucol interviewing a claimant of a lost wallet that was turned over to him for safekeeping when a red car pulled over in front of the garage.

The video also showed a supposed relative or friend of Bucol walking inside the garage when gunshots rung out.

The man and the claimant of the wallet ran for cover.

A bloodied Bucol was seen on video walking toward the gate before collapsing on the ground. Investigation is ongoing.
