2 Chinese posing as Pinoys nabbed in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines —  Two Chinese nationals have been arrested for posing as Filipinos in San Pedro, Laguna, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported on Wednesday.

Chen Yian and Hong Ping Ping reportedly assumed Filipino identities to secure firearms illegally. They were arrested along Magsaysay Road in Barangay San Antonio based on a mission order issued by BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.

The BI said the misuse of Philippine documents to acquire weapons is a threat to the country’s security.

Three other Chinese nationals – Cai Weixin, Li Rongpo, and Cai Junqiu – were also arrested for working for a company other than the one that provided their visas.

The suspects were detained at the BI jail facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig.
