BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Trial courts in 16 towns in Ilocos Sur will suspend work starting Monday afternoon due to a scheduled power outage. 

The power outage will affect courts in Alilem, Banayoyo, Cervantes, Candon, Del Pilar, Galimuyod, Lidlidda, Salcedo, San Emilio, San Esteban, Santiago, Sigay, Sta. Cruz, Sta. Lucia, Suyo and Tagudin.

Adequate support staff will remain on standby to handle urgent matters such as requests for bail, release orders and applications for writs of habeas corpus, court officials said.

Filing of time-bound pleadings and issuance of resolutions are also suspended, except for cases that require immediate action of the court.

The public and legal practitioners have been advised to wait for further announcements regarding the resumption of court operations.

Court officials gave assurance that urgent legal matters would be attended to promptly.
