CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna , Philippines — Divers searching for the remains of missing sabungeros or cockfight enthusiasts recovered another 26 suspected human bones in Taal Lake in Batangas on Tuesday.

A joint team of divers from the Philippine Coast Guard and police units searched the lake for almost three hours, from around 11 a.m. to 1:50 p.m.

The bones, reportedly placed in a black net, were found in an area of the lake located in Laurel town.

The skeletal remains were turned over to the Calabarzon police forensic unit for examination and proper documentation.

The items were examined by Cpt. Wendelbert Junsay, medical officer of the Calabarzon police forensic unit based in Batangas.

On Monday, the search and retrieval team found six suspected human bones in the lake.

The search for the missing sabungeros started after whistleblower Julie Patidongan claimed that the cockfight enthusiasts had been killed and their bodies were dumped in the lake.
