MANILA, Philippines — Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval on Monday led the distribution of relief aid to families affected by Typhoon Uwan.

Sandoval visited several evacuation centers in the city to ensure evacuees’ welfare.

About 3,456 people took shelter in 18 evacuation sites in Malabon during the onslaught of Uwan.

Relief packs containing rice, canned goods, noodles, coffee and water were distributed in Barangays Potrero, Tinajeros, Santulan, Maysilo and Panghulo.

The city government deployed 206 personnel to assist in response and relief operations. Medical teams were also sent to address evacuees’ health concerns.

The city’s public safety and traffic management office monitored roads and bridges to ensure smooth delivery of aid.

The city’s “Mobile Jeannie Services” were dispatched to provide hygiene and assistance packages to residents.
