2 killed in Laguna road mishap

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two women including a senior citizen died after they were run over by a van in Calamba, Laguna on Sunday.

The fatalities, identified only as Maria, 82, and Nora, 55, were declared dead on arrival at the Jose P. Rizal Memorial Provincial District Hospital due to severe body and head injuries.

Reports said the victims were crossing the highway in Barangay Turbina when a Toyota Hi-Ace hit them.

Instead of helping the victims, the van driver sped away.

Probers have yet to review video footage of closed-circuit television cameras installed at the scene of the accident to determine the plate and identify the owner of the vehicle.
