MANILA, Philippines — As rainfall from Super Typhoon Uwan raised water elevations, the Angat, Ipo and Bustos Dams continued to discharge water to its downstream river systems in Bulacan yesterday.

Maria Teresa Serra, an official of the National Power Corp. Angat Dam flood forecasting and warning division, said the water elevation at Angat was at 208.49 meters as of 2 p.m. yesterday.

The dam’s Spillway Gates 1, 2 and 3 were raised to discharge about 440 cubic meters per second (CMS) of water to the downstream river system, which passes through Ipo and Bustos Dams.

Records from the Bulacan provincial disaster risk reduction and management office showed the water elevation in Ipo Dam at 100.39 meters and releasing water downward to Bustos Dam at 550.40 CMS.

The water level at Bustos Dam was raised by 15.92 meters, although the rubber gates were deflated to allow an overflow of 462 CMS to the downward river system that passes through eight towns before draining out to Manila Bay.
