PCG recovers Chinese rocket debris in Ilocos Norte

MANILA, Philippines — A rocket debris bearing Chinese markings washed ashore in Ilocos Norte and was recovered by the Philippine Coast Guard yesterday.

In a statement, the PCG said the rocket debris was found while its personnel were on foot patrol and conducting an information drive among fisherfolk on typhoon risks in Barangay Saoit, Burgos town.

The PCG-Burgos coordinated with the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office for the safe recovery and handling of the rocket debris.

Coast Guard personnel also issued safety advisories to local fishermen and nearby residents, telling them to keep a safe distance from the rocket debris while authorities conduct assessment and validation.
