Girl, 7, stuffed inside sack, dies

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A seven-year-old girl, believed to have been sexually abused, died after relatives found her stuffed inside a sack with her neck tied with a straw in Lambunao town in Iloilo on Saturday.

According to her 72-year-old grandmother, the girl went out to visit her father’s house about 30 meters away in Barangay Tampucao. When the girl failed to return after about 30 minutes, the grandmother went out to look for her.

The grandmother told police that she entered the house and looked for the girl in the bedroom, kitchen and the bathroom where she found a sack tied with a shoelace.

When she opened the sack, she found her grandchild naked from the waist down.

The girl was still breathing when rushed to the hospital, where she later died.

Capt. Jose Winston Biadog, Lambunao police chief, said they have at least four persons of interest who were subjected to a swab test.

Biadog said investigators are waiting for the results of the test and the autopsy on the girl’s body.
