MMDA suspends number coding on November 10 due to 'Uwan'

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) lifted the expanded number coding scheme for Monday, November 10, due to Super Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong).
In an advisory on Sunday afternoon, November 9, the MMDA said the measure was made in anticipation of the expected effects of Uwan.
As of 11 a.m., Uwan is estimated to be over the coastal waters of Pandan, Catanduanes.
The super typhoon packs maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, with gusts reaching up to 230 kph.
This prompted PAGASA to hoist Signal No. 5 in some areas in the eastern portion of the country.
