DMW: Beware of job offers in Egypt

MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos aspiring to work in Egypt are warned against third-country recruitment schemes.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) advised overseas job applicants to refrain from accepting employment offers in another country, even if the actual work is to be done in Egypt.
“Do not sign contracts without legal work permits, visas and valid employer documentation,” the DMW said in an advisory yesterday.
“Each contract should comply with the required terms and conditions as well as the minimum salary set by the DMW,” the agency added.
According to DMW, recruiters promising easy job placements in Egypt without proper permits are illegal, putting workers at risk of exploitation, detention or deportation.
Suspicious recruitment activity offering jobs in Egypt without government authorization must be reported to the DMW.
The agency noted that all foreign workers in Egypt must obtain valid work permits and licenses from the Ministry of Manpower and its affiliated offices.
