MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police is ready to arrest businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang and other personalities facing charges in connection with the disappearance of sabungeros or cockfight enthusiasts, acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said yesterday.

Nartatez made the remark after the Department of Justice reported that the murder complaint filed against Ang, actress Gretchen Barretto and several others is up for resolution.

State prosecutors will decide on whether to dismiss the complaint or recommend the filing of charges in court.

“Once the arrest warrants are out, the PNP will immediately act in coordination with the court to ensure its proper and lawful implementation,” Nartatez said in a statement.

Nartatez ordered the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and other police units to be ready to implement court-issued warrants that may be issued related to the case.
