COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A couple and their 13-year-old daughter died, charred almost beyond recognition, in a fire that razed their house in Mega Heights Subdivision, Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City, just before midnight on Monday, October 20.

Radio reports from Cotabato City on Tuesday morning said officials of the Bureau of Fire Protection–Cagayan de Oro City (BFP-CDO) and the Police Regional Office 10 identified the fatalities as Sisinio Talara, his 40-year-old wife Annie Rose Talara, and their 13-year-old daughter Mary Rose.

City and barangay officials said the victims were reportedly trapped inside their house when the fire broke out.

Responding firefighters from different stations in Cagayan de Oro City—the capital of Region 10—were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby homes, according to BFP and police officials.

Local officials said the city government will help facilitate the burial of the three victims.
