ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A content creator died after trying to save her sister-in-law from drowning while crossing a river in Barangay Malocloc Sur in Ivisan, Capiz on Saturday.

Police said the vlogger, identified only as Mary Mae, was swept away by strong river currents as Tropical Storm Ramil inundated many areas in the province.

Officials said emergency responders faced difficulty in searching for the vlogger due to road inaccessibility, flooding and risk to lives.

In Santa Maria, Bulacan, a 12-year-old girl was also reported dead from drowning in Sitio Pisang River in Barangay San Jose Patag on Saturday.

Town police chief Lt. Col. Voltaire Rivera said the girl was swimming with friends when the accident happened.
