Lightning kills fisherman

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A fisherman died after he was hit by lightning in Nasugbu, Batangas on Thursday afternoon.

The fatality, identified only as Allan, 48, died at the scene of the incident that occurred in Barangay Bundukan.

Reports said the victim and his companion, Nicholas Ibañez, were gathering crabs and seashells in a swamp when lightning struck.

Ibañez rushed to the victim’s house to inform his family about the incident.

After realizing that the victim was already dead, the family decided not to bring him to the hospital.

Police said the family signed a waiver declining an autopsy of the victim’s remains.
