Globe conducts biggest digital thumbprint session

MANILA, Philippines — Globe recently conducted its biggest digital thumbprint program (DTP), educating 3,5000 students from Baliwag Polytechnic College on how to become digital citizens and stay safe from cybersecurity threats.
In a statement, the telecommunications company said the learning session is in line with its advocacy to promote digital literacy and equip the youth with skills needed to thrive in today’s hyperconnected world.
Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s sustainability and corporate communications chief officer, said, “This is the largest DTP session we’ve ever held in the country and it reflects our unwavering commitment to shaping a safer and more inclusive digital future for Filipino students.”
“By reaching thousands of students in one event, we are empowering them not just to be responsible digital citizens, but also to seize the opportunities of tomorrow’s digital economy,” Crisanto added.
Among the topics discussed during the session were online safety, cybersecurity awareness, responsible use of artificial intelligence and introduction to blockchain.
Globe noted the rising cybersecurity threats in the country, including online scams, fake job offers, phishing links that steal personal details, and deepfake videos and voice clones that trick victims into sending money.
Citing a Department of Information and Communications Technology report, Globe said the DICT has recorded more than 3,000 cybercrime complaints in a single year, or about eight incidents reported per day.
