TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — The new chief of the Bohol police assumed the post following a turnover ceremony at Camp Francisco Dagohoy in this city on Friday.

Col. Patricio Degay Jr. replaced Col. Arnel Banzon, who reached the mandatory retirement age this month.

Before he was designated provincial police chief, Degay was head of the Tagbilaran City police.

The ceremony was attended by Central Visayas police director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, Gov. Aris Aumentado, Vice Gov. Nick Besas and Rep. John Geesnell Yap of the first district of Bohol.

Maranan urged Degay to do his best to make Bohol safe for every one, and uphold the rule of law. He said security in Bohol is crucial as the province is frequented by local and foreign tourists.
