Dimasalang Bridge closed for repairs

MANILA, Philippines — A portion of Dimasalang Bridge in Manila is closed for rehabilitation, the Department of Public Works and Highways said.
Originally scheduled last August, the DPWH started repair works on the southbound lane of the bridge yesterday.
The repairs will last until Dec. 15 this year.
According to a traffic advisory from the Manila city government, motorists from the southern part of Manila going northbound can use the northbound lane of the bridge.
Last month, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno stopped the rehabilitation project due to lack of permits from the city government.
Moreno allowed the project contractor to resume works after it paid P504,000 in taxes.
The Dimasalang Bridge connects Sampaloc and Sta. Cruz districts.
It will undergo retrofitting of piers and abutments, replacement of girders from concrete to steel, and complete redecking of slab.
