Marcos turns over 1,099 houses in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos turned over yesterday 1,099 new housing units to families displaced by the ongoing construction of the Philippine National Railways South Long Haul Project in San Pablo City, Laguna.
The St. Barts Southville Heights, a P769-million project in Barangay San Bartolome, is part of the administration’s Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino housing program.
It is funded through the Department of Transportation’s Trust Fund and implemented by the National Housing Authority.
“No one is left behind, no one is set aside, no one is neglected. That is the principle of our national housing program – housing with dignity,” Marcos told the beneficiaries.
Marcos said the project also includes the construction of vital public facilities, such as an elementary school, multipurpose covered court, health center, daycare center, tricycle terminal and local market.
“Here at St. Barts, it’s just not about housing. We aim to build a community with decent housing and complete facilities,” the President said.
Each unit has a floor area of 27 square meters on a 40-square-meter lot.
It has two bedrooms, dining area, kitchen and dirty kitchen.
