Vietnamese posing as cosmetic surgeon held

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a Vietnamese national for allegedly conducting cosmetic surgeries in Manila without a license.
The NBI conducted an entrapment operation against Hoang Thi Hai Yen on Sept. 2 after receiving information that Vietnamese nationals were posing as cosmetic surgeons.
An NBI agent made an appointment with the suspect known as “Doc Yen” at a clinic in Manila, who asked for P105,000 to conduct the surgery.
Yen was arrested after failing to present a license from the Professional Regulations Commission. She also lacked a permit from the Food and Drug Administration to sell medicines.
The suspect is facing charges for violating the Medical Act, Consumer Act of the Philippines and Philippine Pharmacy Act.
