Kiko blasts TV network for ‘disrespecting’ Sharon

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Francis Pangilinan on Monday denounced television network Net 25 for allegedly disrespecting his wife, actress Sharon Cuneta, during a segment co-hosted by Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.
The hosts addressed Cuneta during the program on Saturday after Marcoleta admitted that he was insulted by Pangilinan’s support for a proposed independent people’s commission that would probe anomalies in government infrastructure projects.
“If you’re listening, please speak with Pangilinan. Why is he underestimating the Blue Ribbon committee? Tell him to step down from the committee so that he isn’t being insulting,” one of the hosts said.
Chaired by Marcoleta, the Senate Blue Ribbon committee has launched an inquiry into anomalous flood control projects.
Marcoleta accused his colleagues, including Pangilinan, Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Senate Minority Leader Vicente Sotto III, of undermining his committee.
Addressing the Net 25 management, Pangilinan said anchors Nelson Lubao and Gen Subardiaga “disrespected Sharon and insulted her by dragging her into this issue. She deserves a public apology from the network and your anchorpersons.”
Lubao apologized yesterday to Cuneta “for the pain and distress this has caused.”
