Drunk cop shoots live-in partner with service pistol in Digos City

COTABATO CITY — A drunk off-duty policeman shot dead his live-in partner and wounded her mother in a gun rage in their house in Barangay Zone 3 in Digos City on Sunday night, August 31.
The suspect, Patrolman Orland Porquido Dinoy, 30, who was immediately disarmed and detained by barangay officials and volunteer community watchmen, is now locked in a police detention facility, awaiting prosecution for his criminal offense.
Lt. Col. Peter Glenn Ipong, officer-in-charge of the Digos City Police Station, and local executives separately told reporters on Monday, September 1, that Dinoy and his live-in partner, the 30-year-old Mealjoy Basilgo Lapeña, first shouted insults at each other loudly before he pulled out his service pistol and shot her 10 times, killing her instantly.
Dinoy also shot and wounded Lapeña’s 50-year-old mother, Mirla, who is now hospitalized.
Neighbors of Dinoy, who is assigned to the police station in nearby Hagonoy town in Davao del Sur, had told reporters that he is a drunkard and often gets into trouble when under the influence of liquor.
Officials from the Digos City police force and barangay leaders said they will cooperate in filing an administrative case against Dinoy to pursue his dishonorable dismissal from the Philippine National Police.
