Town exec held for illegal guns

COTABATO CITY , Philippines — A municipal councilor in Zamboanga del Norte has been arrested for alleged possession of illegal firearms on Tuesday.
The arrest of Julius Bomediano of Tampilisan town stemmed from a search of his property in Barangay Poblacion that resulted in the recovery of an unlicensed rifle and pistol.
The search, conducted by the local police and agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, stemmed from information provided by a police asset that Bomediano was keeping two unlicensed firearms in his house.
The operation was based on a search warrant issued on Aug. 18 by Judge Wendy Josephine Alico-Famor of the Regional Trial Court Branch 28 in Liloy town.
Bomediano is detained at the municipal police detention facility as charges are readied against him, according to Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta, Zamboanga peninsula police director.
