Bus plows into vehicles on Commonwealth, 10 injured

MANILA, Philippines — A bus rammed into multiple vehicles before crashing into the concrete barriers of the MRT-7 construction site along Commonwealth Avenue, injuring at least 10 individuals.
According to a DZRH report on Thursday morning, August 28, the bus was headed for Fairview when it crashed into a UV Express, nine vehicles and five motorcycles. The collision had affected multiple lanes and caused heavy traffic in Commonwealth, Quezon City.
The bus was a Mersan unit plying the Sapang Palay, Bulacan-Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) route.
DZMM, meanwhile, reported that the bus driver lost control of its brakes, so he decided to crash into the avenue's center island instead of further ramming into other vehicles along the major thoroughfare.
The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Road Emergency Group responded to the multiple-vehicle collision, removing the bus from the concrete barriers.
According to DZBB’s report, those who required further medical treatment were taken to East Avenue Medical Center, Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital and Commonwealth Hospital.
None of the injured were reported to be in serious condition.
The Land Transportation Office is also investigating the multi-vehicle collision.
The driver is currently under the custody of the Quezon City Traffic District 5 near the Bureau of Animal Industry's inspection point of Barangay Doña Carmen.
