BI, NICA collaborate for border security

MANILA, Philippines — Preventing the entry of undesirable aliens and fugitives into the Philippines has been strengthened after the Bureau of Immigration (BI) partnered with the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) to enhance intelligence capabilities.
Improving coordination with the NICA is essential for border control, Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said.
“Border control is national security. By working closely with the NICA, we ensure that every piece of intelligence is maximized to protect the Filipino people and uphold the integrity of our borders,” Viado said.
“This partnership sends a clear message – those who attempt to exploit our immigration system will be met with a stronger, united front,” he added.
Viado and other officials attended on Aug. 22 a briefing conducted by NICA-National Capital Region regional director Dennis Godfrey Gammad.
