PDEA: P101.7 million drugs seized in a week

MANILA, Philippines — Illegal drugs valued at over P101.7 million have been seized nationwide this month by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
From Aug. 15 to 22, PDEA agents arrested 122 suspects involved in illegal drug operations. About 14 kilos of shabu, 36 kilos of dried marijuana leaves and 8,040 cannabis plants were confiscated.
Key operations include the seizure of 21 kilos of dried marijuana leaves in Baguio City and 14 kilos of dried marijuana leaves and marijuana oil in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, as well as the destruction of 7,000 cannabis plants in Kalinga.
Authorities intercepted seven kilos of shabu in Pasay, four kilos in Zamboanga del Sur, over one kilo in San Francisco, Cebu and one kilo each in Nabua, Camarines Sur and Tambo in Parañaque City.
“We are intensifying our anti-drug campaign with intelligence-driven, coordinated operations,” PDEA director general Isagani Nerez said.
