2 get life for trader’s kidnap

MANILA, Philippines —  A trial court in Lipa, Batangas has convicted two men for the kidnapping of a businessman 10 years ago.

The Lipa Regional Trial Court Branch 13 found Francisco Quiamco and Rammel Relos guilty beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced them to life in prison without eligibility for parole.

The case stemmed from the kidnapping of the victim in a supermarket in Lipa in July 2015.

The kidnappers brought the victim to Pangasinan and demanded P30 million in ransom for his release.

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation  (NBI) rescued the victim and arrested the suspects in an operation in Mangatarem, Pangasinan on July 30, 2015.

The NBI hailed the court ruling, describing it as a victory for justice.
