MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has launched an investigation into falling concrete debris from a condominium on Tomas Morato Avenue on Tuesday, August 12.

In a statement, the local government unit said it will hold accountable those responsible for the incident, which injured three students.

“Kasabay nito, inatasan na po natin ang ating mga tanggapan para mapag-aralan ang anumang kaso na maaaring isampa sa sinumang may pananagutan,” the Quezon City LGU said.

(We have also instructed our offices to study any possible cases that can be filed against those who are responsible.)

“Naglunsad na rin tayo ng kaukulang pagsisiyasat upang mapanagot ang nagkasala sa insidenteng ito na maaari sanang naiwasan,” it added.

(We have also launched a proper investigation to hold those at fault accountable for this incident, which could have been avoided.)

The local government, through its Social Services and Development Department, will also provide assistance to the victims.

What happened. According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), three minors, all students from Don Roces Science High School, were walking past the building at around 4:40 p.m. when they were struck by concrete that fell from the upper part of the condominium.
