Laguna pawnshop robbery leaves employee dead

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A pawnshop employee was killed by suspected robbers who broke into the establishment in Cabuyao, Laguna on Monday.
The victim, identified only as Jona, 27, was declared dead on arrival at the Global Medical Center Hospital. She died from stab wounds in the neck, shoulder and abdomen.
Police said several electronic gadgets worth P75,000 and P20,000 in cash money were missing.
The pawnshop manager told police that Jona called him on the phone at past 9 a.m., informing him that their shop in Barangay Mamatid had been robbed.
Lt. Col. Randy Oliquino, chief of the Cabuyao police, said the line was cut and the manager could no longer contact Jona, prompting him to seek help from authorities.
Responding village officials and watchmen found the victim bloodied on the floor.
Probers said the robbers could have entered the shop before Jona arrived, and that the suspects could be known to the victim.
