MANILA, Philippines — A marine vessel ran aground in Camarines Sur on Thursday, August 7, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

In a statement on Sunday, August 10, the PCG identified the vessel as LCT Golden Phoenix, which ran aground in the waters off San Miguel Bay, Brgy. Matandang Siruma, Camarines Sur.

A follow-up investigation found that strong winds and currents caused the incident. The vessel was carrying construction materials at the time.

All 13 Filipino crew members were safe and in good health, with no injuries or casualties reported.

The ship’s captain and the shipping company have arranged for a hull inspection by divers and are preparing the necessary documentation for maritime procedures.

The PCG immediately deployed personnel to the area to verify the report and coordinate with concerned parties. However, initial inspection attempts were postponed due to unfavorable sea conditions.
