DOTr orders license of Skyway counterflowing SUV driver revoked

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ordered the permanent revocation of the driver’s license of the individual who drove against the flow of traffic on the Skyway.

In a statement on Saturday, August 9, the DOTr said the vehicle was caught on the department’s CCTV cameras at 3:32 a.m.

“Hindi pu-puwede na suspendido lang ang lisensiya ng driver na ito dahil kitang kita naman sa CCTV footage na inilagay niya sa peligro ang buhay ng mga driver ng kasalubong niyang sasakyan,” Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said.

(Just suspending this driver’s license is not enough because the CCTV footage clearly shows that he put the lives of oncoming motorists at risk.)

“Ipinag-utos ko na i-revoke na nang tuluyan ang driver’s license ng pasaway na driver na ito nang hindi na pamarisan ang reckless driving niya,” he added.

(I have ordered this unruly driver’s license to be permanently revoked so that others will not emulate his reckless driving.)

According to a report by GMA News, Dizon said a show-cause order had been issued to the driver earlier this week and that an investigation would be conducted.

“Mag-iimbestiga na tayo pero ang ni-recommend ko, inutos sa LTO, huwag nang palagpasin ito,” Dizon said in a DZBB interview on Sunday, August 10.
