Woman, baby killed in Laguna gun attack

MANILA, Philippines — A woman and her 11-month-old baby were killed while their relative was wounded in an attack by motorcycle-riding assailants in San Pablo City, Laguna on Friday night.
Rhea Lunar, 30, died while being treated for gunshot wounds in the arm and shoulder at the Panlalawigang Pagamutan ng Laguna, according to Col. Jomar Yupio, Laguna police director.
Lunar’s daughter, Catherine, was declared dead on arrival in the same hospital. She suffered a gunshot wound in the left side of her body.
Lunar’s mother, Mercelita, was taken to the same hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound in the leg.
Reports said the victims were having dinner in an eatery in Barangay San Gregorio at past 7 p.m. when two men on a motorcycle arrived.
One of the men entered the establishment and shot the victims without provocation.
The gunman and his companion fled on the same motorcycle.
Police are eyeing several persons of interest in the case, one of whom may be the mastermind.
Yupio said probers were reviewing video footage of closed-circuit television cameras installed in the eatery.
Probers have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
