OFW agency opens office in Northern Mindanao
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — The Commission on Filipinos Overseas on Friday inaugurated a CFO extension office in this city to make government services accessible to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families in Northern Mindanao.
The event was led by CFO Secretary Dante Francis Ang II and Rep. Rufus Rodriguez of the second district, who commended the agency for bringing vital programs closer to OFWs and their families.
“This extension office is a milestone and a testament to the government’s commitment to ‘be where the people are’ and to ensure that progress is felt across all regions,” Rodriguez said.
Aside from several proposals supporting programs for OFWs, Rodriguez said he has refiled a measure to amend the Family Code at the House of Representatives.
The refiled measure seeks to allow Filipinos to remarry after undergoing divorce abroad.
The CFO extension office is expected to streamline crucial services for OFWs and their families based in the region.
