Man stabs wife over jealousy

MANILA, Philippines — A woman is now in stable condition after she was reportedly stabbed by her drunk husband out of jealousy in Pasay, police said yesterday.
According to probers, the woman was walking along Andrews Avenue in Barangay 184 on Tuesday night when her spouse, known only as Boy, stabbed her in the back following a fight.
She had come from a wake when the incident occurred.
Police responded in less than five minutes.
Boy, 44, was allegedly driven by suspicion that his wife was cheating on him.
“When the suspect turned sober, we asked him if he had strong evidence to prove that she was cheating. He said no,” Capt. Glen Ramos Mangalindan, officer-in-charge of the Maricaban police substation, told reporters.
Barangay 184 councilman Ceasaria Alota said the couple had talked at the barangay hall in April to reconcile, but efforts turned futile.
“The woman promised to return home if Boy would change his ways,” Alota said. “But I saw on Facebook that she was again being hounded by jealousy accusations.”
Boy, who is being held at the Pasay police station, has asked for forgiveness from his wife.
