Cop nabbed for robbing Bukidnon convenience store now facing raps

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A police corporal who allegedly held up a convenience store in Bukidnon at gunpoint and fled with P12,000 in cash is now facing criminal and administrative charges.
The suspect, identified as Cpl. Danilo Javiero, was arrested on Tuesday, August 5, shortly after the robbery at a 7-Eleven store in Barangay Damilag, Manolo Fortich town.
Javiero was formerly assigned to the Malaybalay City Police Station, also in Bukidnon. According to his relatives and friends, he is a heavy drinker and addicted to online cockfighting.
Maj. Jayvee Babaan, spokesperson of the Bukidnon Provincial Police Office, said the suspect is currently detained while awaiting court proceedings.
Officials of the Police Regional Office 10, which oversees Bukidnon, said Javiero will be dishonorably discharged from the service for violating the Philippine National Police code of conduct.
Initial investigations show that Javiero robbed the store cashier at gunpoint and took off with the cash. He was apprehended by responding police officers after the establishment's staff reported the incident.
Local authorities confirmed that the stolen money was recovered and returned to the store manager.
