MANILA, Philippines — Police have rounded up 175 people in an intensified campaign against crimes in Quezon City in a span of seven days.

Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, Quezon City Police District officer-in-charge, said the suspects were apprehended in law enforcement operations from July 27 to Aug. 2. Among those apprehended were 48 drug suspects and 70 fugitives.

Silvio said 54 people were held for illegal gambling and three for possession of loose firearms.

“These arrests are a result of the relentless efforts of our personnel to keep Quezon City safe from drugs, crime and lawlessness,” he said in a statement.
