78 BARMM villagers benefit from medical mission

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A large group of villagers in Barangay Simone, located in the newly created town of Old Kaabacan in Cotabato province, benefitted from a medical mission led by Bangsamoro regional officials on Tuesday, August 5.
Local officials of Old Kaabacan expressed gratitude to Bangsamoro Chief Minister Abdulrauf Macacua and regional parliament member Dr. Kadil Sinolinding Jr. for facilitating the humanitarian effort.
The activity was part of Macacua's "Serbisyong Angkop sa Mamamayan" (Project SAM) and was carried out by a team from Sinolinding’s office. Sinolinding, an ophthalmologist by profession, also currently serves as BARMM's health minister.
Barangay leaders said 23 of the 78 beneficiaries—mostly elderly Moro residents—were diagnosed with cataracts and pterygium and have been scheduled for surgery at Deseret Surgimed Hospital in Barangay Kayaga, Kabacan.
Of those examined, 36 received free reading glasses, while three others were provided with medication for various illnesses.
