MRT to give free rides in August for National ID users

MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit Line-3 will provide free rides on Wednesdays of August, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.
The free rides will be for passengers who will be using their National ID when boarding the train on August 6, 13, 20 and 27, according to the DOTr.
The free ride during the mentioned dates will be effective from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“The Free Ride is in line with President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.'s goal to expand the use of National ID, for easier transactions, whether public or private, and faster and inclusive delivery of social services,” the DOTr’s statement read.
To avail the free ride, the physical copy of the National ID or its printed paper version may be presented at the train line’s service gate.
A digital copy of the ID may also be presented, according to the DOTr.
