Snake caught in Villamor before Marcos's India flight

MANILA, Philippines — Hours before President Marcos delivered his departure statement for his state visit to India yesterday, a member of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) was bitten by a snake found in shrubs at Villamor Air Base.
PAF personnel caught the snake and placed the reptile in a sack.
The soldier was given anti-tetanus treatment and is in stable condition, according to PAF chief Lt. Gen. Arthur Cordura.
He said the incident was “not a cause for concern,” adding that the area is “very porous.”
“The drainage system is connected to localities. Snakes thrive in those areas and with the recent rain, which made the area here damp, it is not unusual for snakes to enter,” Cordura said.
