MANILA, Philippines — A 34-year-old patrolman from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) was killed in a road incident Friday night while on his way to work.

The officer, assigned to the Tactical Motorized Riding Unit of Cubao Police Station 7, reportedly lost control of his motorcycle along P. Tuazon Boulevard in Cubao after hitting a pothole, according to a QCPD news release issued Sunday.

The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m.

The patrolman had come from N. Domingo Street and was headed toward EDSA when he crashed. He was then run over by a passing bus.

He was rushed to the Philippine National Police General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The QCPD said it would extend full financial support to the family of the fallen officer.

Police said the bus driver has been taken into custody. — with the Philippine News Agency
