MALOLOS, Philippines —  The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will conduct a two-day special voter registration for indigenous peoples (IP) in Bulacan.

Mona Ann Campos, Comelec-Bulacan election supervisor, said the special voter registration for Dumagats would be conducted today in Barangay Kalawakan in Doña Remedios Trinidad town, and on Aug.  8 at the Tribal Hall in Barangay San Lorenzo in Norzagaray.

The special voter registration for IPs in Central Luzon started on Friday in Barangay Calumpang in Mabalacat, Pampanga, according to Elmo Duque, assistant director and spokesman for the Comelec-Central Luzon.

Applicants need to present valid IDs and documents issued by the government to be able to register and vote in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in December.

Before the registration started, the IPs held rituals, offered prayers, and sang the national anthem and the “Katutubong Pagtanggap sa mga Panauhin.”
