2 government workers die in Benguet mishap

LA TRINIDAD, Philippines — Two workers of the Benguet provincial engineering office died after a construction equipment fell into a ravine in this town on Tuesday afternoon.

Redentor Roldan and Rex Galang died at the scene of the accident that occurred in Sitio Lower Kesbeng in Barangay Poblacion. Two others, including the driver of the equipment were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

Reports said the workers were in a wheel loader on their way to Barangay Bineng to clear debris from a landslide when the driver lost control of the wheel.

Meanwhile, a rider died when his motorcycle collided with a truck in nearby Barangay Puguis.

Police said the motorcycle swerved, causing it to crash into an Isuzu Elf.

The victim, whose name was not immediately available, was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
