10 rescued from human trafficking
MANILA, Philippines — Ten victims of human trafficking were rescued in separate police operations in the towns of Initao and Naawan in Misamis Oriental on Friday, according to the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG).
Six minors aged seven to 17 years were among those rescued by the police, according to ACG spokesperson Lt. Wallen Mae Arancillo.
The anti-crime operations resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old woman, who reportedly sold the victims to foreign and local clients.
The arrest came after the ACG received information that a syndicate was using minors in online sexual exploitation and in-person abuse.
Arancillo said the suspect contacts potential clients through social media platforms.
She said that if the client is based locally, the suspect would make arrangements for the victims and the customers to meet in person.
If a client is based abroad, the suspect would allegedly force the minors to perform sexual acts online, the ACG said.
